Welcome to Lookal! By using our platform, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully. If you don't agree, please don't use Lookal.

What Lookal Is (and Isn't)

Lookal is a Property Discovery Platform

Lookal helps you discover rental properties and schedule in-person viewings with landlords. We are NOT a rental booking platform, property management service, or real estate broker.

What We Do:

  • Connect tenants with landlords
  • Facilitate viewing appointments
  • Enable direct communication between parties
  • Display property information provided by landlords
  • Verify user identities through third-party verification service

What We DON'T Do:

  • Process rental payments or deposits
  • Create or enforce rental agreements
  • Verify property ownership or rental terms
  • Handle disputes between landlords and tenants
  • Manage properties on behalf of landlords
  • Store ID documents or biometric data on our servers

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account and using Lookal, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement. You agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

2. User Accounts

Account Registration:

  • • You must provide accurate and complete information
  • • You are responsible for maintaining account security
  • • One person per account; no sharing credentials
  • • Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access

Account Types:

  • Tenants: Can browse properties, request viewings, and message landlords (requires phone and ID verification before requesting viewings)
  • Landlords: Can list properties, manage viewing requests, and communicate with prospective tenants (requires ID verification to list properties)

3. Identity Verification

Third-Party Verification Service

Lookal uses Didit, a third-party identity verification service, to verify user identities. By using Lookal, you agree to:

  • • Provide government-issued ID documents and biometric data (selfie) to Didit
  • • Allow Didit to process your ID documents and facial recognition data
  • • Comply with Didit's terms of service and privacy policy
  • • Understand that Lookal does NOT store ID documents or biometric data on our servers

Verification Requirements:

  • Tenants: Must complete phone verification (SMS OTP) AND ID verification (Didit) before requesting property viewings
  • Landlords: Must complete ID verification (Didit) before listing properties
  • • Verification typically takes 1-2 business days
  • • Rejected verifications may be resubmitted with correct documentation

4. Landlord Obligations

As a landlord, you agree to:

  • • Provide accurate property information and photos
  • • Complete ID verification through our third-party verification service (Didit) before listing properties
  • • Respond to viewing requests within 48 hours
  • • Honor confirmed viewing appointments
  • • Comply with all local housing laws and regulations
  • • Not discriminate against tenants based on protected characteristics
  • • Handle all rental agreements and payments directly with tenants (OFF-PLATFORM)

5. Tenant Obligations

As a tenant, you agree to:

  • • Provide honest information in viewing requests
  • • Complete phone verification (SMS OTP) AND ID verification (Didit) before requesting property viewings
  • • Attend scheduled viewing appointments or cancel in advance
  • • Communicate respectfully with landlords
  • • Not make fraudulent viewing requests
  • • Inspect properties in person before agreeing to any rental terms

6. Prohibited Activities

You may NOT:

  • • Post false, misleading, or fraudulent listings
  • • Use the platform for scams or illegal activities
  • • Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
  • • Scrape or copy platform content without permission
  • • Create multiple accounts to evade restrictions
  • • Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity
  • • Submit false or forged identification documents
  • • Use the platform for any purpose other than property discovery and viewing coordination

7. Viewing Requests & Appointments

  • • Viewing requests are NOT rental bookings or binding agreements
  • • Viewing appointments are solely to inspect properties in person
  • • Tenants must complete phone and ID verification before requesting viewings
  • • Landlords must respond to requests within 48 hours (confirm or decline)
  • • Tenants can cancel viewing appointments, but repeated cancellations may affect reputation
  • • No-shows (ghosting) without notice are discouraged and may result in account warnings
  • • All rental negotiations, agreements, and payments happen OUTSIDE Lookal

8. Off-Platform Rental Agreements

ALL rental agreements and payments occur OFF-PLATFORM.

Lookal does not facilitate, process, or oversee rental transactions. After viewing a property:

  • • Tenants and landlords negotiate rental terms directly
  • • Rental contracts are signed between parties (NOT involving Lookal)
  • • Security deposits and rent payments are handled directly
  • • Lookal is NOT a party to any rental agreement
  • • Lookal has NO responsibility for the terms, enforcement, or disputes of rental agreements

9. Landlord Subscriptions

Lookal offers landlord subscription plans for enhanced property visibility and platform features:

  • • Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually based on your choice
  • • You can cancel anytime; cancellation takes effect at the end of billing period
  • • No refunds for partial months
  • • Prices may change with 30 days notice
  • • Subscriptions are for platform features ONLY, not rental transaction processing

10. Content & Intellectual Property

  • • You retain ownership of content you post (listings, photos, messages)
  • • You grant Lookal a license to display your content on the platform
  • • You must have rights to any photos or content you upload
  • • Lookal owns all platform design, code, and branding
  • • ID documents and biometric data are processed by Didit under their terms

11. Liability & Disclaimers

Lookal is a discovery platform, NOT a party to rental agreements.

We are NOT responsible for:

  • • The accuracy of property information or landlord claims
  • • Disputes, conflicts, or legal issues between tenants and landlords
  • • Property conditions, defects, or misrepresentations
  • • Rental agreement terms, enforcement, or breaches
  • • Losses from scams, fraud, or criminal activity
  • • Any damages or injuries occurring during property viewings
  • • Errors, delays, or issues with third-party verification service (Didit)
  • • Data breaches or security issues at third-party service providers

Your Responsibility:

  • • Inspect properties in person before entering any rental agreement
  • • Verify landlord identity and property ownership independently
  • • Conduct your own due diligence on rental terms and conditions
  • • Understand that identity verification confirms document submission, NOT character or trustworthiness
  • • Use the platform at your own risk

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or harm the Lookal community. You can also delete your account anytime through app settings.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes via in-app notification or email. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. Any disputes will be resolved in Philippine courts. Lookal complies with all applicable Philippine rental and property laws.
